Blue Lakes International School (BLIS) is a co-educational day and boarding independent secondary school, offering both the Rwandan National (REB) Curriculum and the Cambridge International Curriculum to prepare resourceful, globally-minded learners.
Blue Lakes International School is a state-of-the-art, modern mixed boarding secondary school committed to a well-rounded education for the young generation of Rwanda and the wider region.
The school delivers three curricula side by side — the Rwandan National Curriculum (REB Program), the Cambridge International Curriculum of the United Kingdom, and the Pearson BTEC Program — so students graduate equally prepared for local, global, and vocational pathways.
National-track students sit for O'Level and A'Level examinations administered by Rwanda's National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA), with the campus itself subject to NESA's regular school inspections.
Since opening in January 2017, BLIS has grown steadily, mentoring generation after generation of learners and recruiting teaching staff from overseas to bring an international standard of instruction to its campus.
Every student chooses a track built for where they're headed next — a national qualification, an internationally recognised one, or both, inside a boarding community built to support either path.
Our third curriculum track — the Pearson BTEC (Business and Technology Education Council) Program — sits alongside Cambridge and REB studies across four fields: Information Technology, Business, Applied Science, and Travel & Tourism. Assessed through coursework and exams, each pathway is a direct route to university, apprenticeships, or employment.
